4.Porting ESMT AMP drivers (40%, 8/12~8/21)
5.Debug EVT1 HW board no hdmi output. (8/18)
It is related to 3G configuration, Synaptics is working on it.
6.Ethernet Driver verify. (8/18)
We can do ping with ethernet now. But the ethernet driver in uboot does not work (it will only impact burning image by tftp with SPI card board.).
7. IR Key mapping modify (8/18)
   Currently the UP/DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT can work.

Hi Wooshin,
As Jackie said, we are working on the board bring up and driver porting. I think we should focus on AMP and AMIC porting first.
The BTF will be verified and ported after the we finish the board bring up.

Hi Wooshin,

Not completely right.
We now actually can see android boots up and see the android UI. But this is based on our internal trial to mix the ram configurations with 2G/3G configurations. Eevn we can see the android UI, the total memory size is 1.5GB instead of 3GB.
If we follow the Synaptics recommended 3G ram configurations, there is no output on HDMI and kernel module keep show some error messages. Synaptics seems gave us a wrong 3G Tee Kernel that causes no output on HDMI.
We are still working with Synaptics to fix it.

It is related to 3G configuration, Synaptics will provide new TZK image on 8/20.
6.Ethernet Driver verify. (8/19)
RX/TX througput can over 800Mbps now.

Dear River,

I always thanks you for daily report. I have a questions about your reports.
1. For LED, I know there are tow chips(5036 and 5024) on B/D for LED. 5036 driver porting is already done, and is 5024 porting done also ? Why led hw should be modified ?
2. For HDMI, Even though you use new 3G DDR configuration, is there no hdmi output yet ?
3. For ethernet, Do you cowork with synaptics to solve it ? I didn't expect it to take long time to resolve this issue.

Thanks.

Hi Wooshin,

Please find my answer below:
1. For LED, I know there are tow chips(5036 and 5024) on B/D for LED. 5036 driver porting is already done, and is 5024 porting done also ? Why led hw should be modified ?
>> Both 5036 and 5024 driver porting were done. For LED HW modification, that is because the I2C address of on 5036 LED IC is conflicted with other peripheral I2C IC on the same I2C bus. The LED sub-PCB needs to do some HW modification to avoid I2C address conflict.
2. For HDMI, Even though you use new 3G DDR configuration, is there no hdmi output yet ?
>> No, HDMI output now is ok with the latest 3G DDR configuration.
The current problem is the total memory is small on android. The expected total memory space for android is 2.5GB (0.5GB is reserved for secure memory), but we only get 2GB total memory space in android.
3. For ethernet, Do you cowork with synaptics to solve it ? I didn't expect it to take long time to resolve this issue.
>> Because we use different giga ethernet IC comparing to Synaptics EVK board. It needs some modification by ourself to fix it.
Currently, this issue only affects the developer who wants to use TFTP with SPI Card to burn image. But there is an alternative way by burning image with usb stick by SPI Card. And there is no problem in ethernet when Android is running.
So we think it's priority is low. Our R&D is also busy in dealing the EVT2 manufacture image preparation.
We will find time to fix it when all high priority tasks are done.

1.Verify/debug BT driver. (20%, 8/17~9/4)
2.Verify/debug TILP5036 LED on EVT1. (8/21~9/7)
Prepare to commit the code and start to check the BTF LED HAL and Led scenario.
3.Verify/debug CX20810 on EVT1. (20% 8/21~9/7)
The driver can now be running and we can use tinycap to record voice input.
But the input is still 2 channels. Check with synaptics how to config I2S TDM mode.
4.Verify/debug ESMT AMPs on EVT1. (20% 8/21~9/7)
We can play audio from AD82584F to speaker. Now working on no audio output for AD83586B.
5.Debug EVT1 HW board no hdmi output. (Done, 8/24)
Synaptics explains that the 500MB is reserved for secure memory and 400MB is reserved for non-secure memory video buffer(mainly used for non-secure video playback pipeline) and invisible to android.
So, the total memory of android will be around 2.0GB.
6.Start to develop app for mic recording and play audio on speaker. (10%, 8/24~9/14)
7.SPI uboot Ethernet Driver issue. (8/24)

Hi Mr. River Weng,

I have question on CX20810.
We should support both Google FFV and NUGU FFV.
So we should 4 mics for NUGU and 2 Mics for Google.
In case of Google, we should select 2 Mics, #1 and #4 only, not #2 and #3.
Did you know about it ?

Hi Wooshin,
On last friday meeting, you mentioned about the MAC address and /vendor/factory paritition issue.
I think this issue is related to that we did not do any key/mac programming procedure yet on our EVT boards.
It needs to have a special Synaptics factory image to burn into EVT board then we can have a factory partition that mounts to /vendor/factory.
In Synaptics EVK board, it should had burned the factory image before, so it have the factory partition.

Dear River,

"We find an alternative way to capture 4 channels microphone data by tinycap tool and will try it on developing tuning app."
Currently can you record all input from 4 channels ?
When i check synaptics jira, if you use "-c 4" parameter, you got a fail.

Hi Wooshin,

For this issue, I will explain it more details.
Now we can config CX20810 to send 4 MIC audio data. It's signal format is I2S TDM format.
But the VS-550 only recongizes I2S foramt. So, we are asking synaptics about how to config VS-550 to understand I2S TDM format.

We know you are urgent to get the MIC/Speaker tuning app. But the response from Synatpics is slow.
In order to shorten the tuning app developing time.We find an alternative way to make a temporary solution to workaround this.
We will split the 4 MIC audio by Software in our app. This can work because the I2S TDM is based on I2S. The I2S TDM will fill 2 slots(2 MIC audio data, each 16 bits) into one I2S channel (32bits per channel in I2S).

You can refer to attached file for I2S TDM foramt.
If VS-550 can understand I2S format, it will think slot1 and slot2 is for Left channel, slot3 and slot4 is for Right channel.

We adjust the period count from 8 to 10, the reference audio is not dropped when recording 180 seconds.
We will try to check the Far Field Mic and reference audio recording at the same with the period count.
3.BTF HAL development (35%, 9/7~10/15)
  Implement LED beamforming behavior.
4.Prepare 83 EVT2 board to ALT. (Done, 9/16~9/18)
5.SPI uboot Ethernet Driver issue. (Pending)

Dear River,

I know you are doing your best. but second target date for BT, AUX/MIC ADC driver, and 4 channel mic is already passed.
It looks project to make difficult.
SKB's manager is pushing everyday ALT and delay like it (passed second target) will lead us bad result.
Please try to keep our schedule.

Thanks.

For the board bring up items, I think the BT and AUX/MIC are done because the HW interfaces are now working.
I will list the BT driver issues and I2S audio drop issue as separate items.

1.BT RCU can not repair (9/21~10/30)
2.BT speaker routing(9/21~10/30)
After changing some configuration of driver, we now can pair BT speaker.
But the audio is not coming out. The BT audio routing needs to be implemented.
3.Audio drop on I2S inputs (9/21~9/22)
For all I2S inputs, change period count from 8 to 10 will still have audio drop issue.
Synaptics says that they find some clue on cpu copy. They are trying the patch. If ok, they will release patch to us tomorrow.
4.BTF HAL development (40%, 9/7~10/15)
  Implement LED beamforming behavior.
5.Start to develop manufacture tools for DVT (9/21~11/6)
6.SPI uboot Ethernet Driver issue. (Pending)

After repair, RCU can not be scanned. But disable bt and enable again, it can be scanned again.
2.BT speaker routing(9/21~10/30)
After changing some configuration of driver, we now can pair BT speaker.
But the audio is not coming out. The BT audio routing needs to be implemented.
3.Audio drop on I2S inputs (9/22)
For all I2S inputs, change period count from 8 to 10 will still have audio drop issue.
Synaptics' patch is not working. They are debugging it.
4.BTF HAL development (45%, 9/7~10/15)
  Implement LED beamforming behavior.
5.Start to develop manufacture tools for DVT (5%, 9/21~11/6)
6.Implement CH- and VOL- to enter recovery. (9/22)
7.Check the woofer does not output audio when only I2S Right channel has audio data. (9/22)
Check with chip vendor about how to config it.
8.SPI uboot Ethernet Driver issue. (Pending)

Dear River,
Can you add progress percent (%) of no 1 and no 2 ?, we and SKB are worrying about BT's status.
Please add it.
About no 4, how many more should be implemented ?
About no 6, currently are you using M0 SDK..?
Please answer kindly.
Thanks.

1.BT RCU can not repair (30%,9/21~10/30)
After repairing BA02 RCU, the RCU does not response to active scan.
Cowork with Realtek to debug it.
2.BT speaker routing(35%,9/21~10/30)
2.1 We can now do the BT advertising by use scan mode API. But we can not dynamically switch AD2P sink and A2DP source.
2.2 When soundbar is BT sink, there is audio drop issue. It accompanies with error log about h5 packet checksum error and out-of-order packet.
If soundbar is BT source, there is no such serious audio drop issue.
3.Audio drop on I2S inputs (Done, 10/9)
The Synaptics released patch on 10/7 is OK in our several time testing.
Doing two tinycaps of ffv and reference for 15 minutes and test 4 times. All recorded audio are without audio drop issue.
We also test it on M1 SDK and it is OK.
4.Audio Routing implementation (5%, 10/8~11/13)
Review the implementation details and give detail lists internally by 10/12.
5.BTF HAL development (70%, 9/7~10/15)
Implement LED beamforming behavior. 15 LED behaviors are implemented. 3 behaviors need to be confirmed.
For MIC(Karaoke) HAL, we are still waiting Synaptics's reply for how to add audio patch.
6.Start to develop manufacture tools for DVT (35%, 9/21~11/6)
7.Porting Synaptics M1 SDK.(Done, 10/6~10/16)
The M1 SDK is committed to bitbucket.
8.Support other RCU IR keys (Done, 10/8)
  Committed to bitbucket.
9.SPI uboot Ethernet Driver issue. (Pending)

For item4, if you can provide some reference code (audio hal), it will help.

Dear River,

I have comments like following

1. About BT switching, it should be implemented same with AI2 . I will also check behavior of AI2.
2. About Audio Routing, We need to finish more soon time than your schedule.
SKT is strongly calling for a shorter schedule becuase there is many items to be done test related audio routing.

Thanks.

2. Audio Routing.
 1.Output device mute/unmute:
BT Source(earphone) mute/unmute. : why do we need this option ?, Regarding to audio routing table, if there is connection with BT earphone, output device should be selected to BT earphone.
4. Input source mute/unmute: Why do we need this function ?, I think we only control mute/unmute of output not input.

7. Debug NTFS does work (11/2) : Is it done ?
9. M3 MDK porting (11/2) : Is it done ?

1.Audio Routing implementation (75%) => the most of parts already implemented and still need to verify and target to finish all parts by 11/6
  Implemented items:
a)BT source connection state fix (Done)
  b)Output device mute/unmute:
    2.1 HDMI mute/unmute (Done)
    2.2 Speaker mute/unmute (Done)
  Ongoing items:
  a)Output device mute/unmute:
    BT Source(earphone) mute/unmute. (Done by 11/3)
Audio Routing doc has defined this API. We think it may be used for parental control. So, we still implement it.
  b)Output device volume:
    HDMI/Speaker/BT Source.
It already has source code. We are trying to set different parameters to test it.
  c)Output device force mute:
    HDMI/Speaker/BT Source.
It already has source code. We are checking the code implementation and trying to set different parameters to test it.
  d)Input source mute/unmute:
    BTV mute/BT Sink/Aux in.
For BTV mute, it is done. There is code to create file for BTV mute. Sptek will check the file to mute/unmute BTV.
BT sink/Aux in is still under development.

2.M3 MDK porting will be finished by 11/3 (Done, 11/3)
We will provide M3 image by 11/4.

3.BTF HAL development
3.2 For MIC(Karaoke) HAL, we will need to study Synaptics AMP_SND API and waiting for Synaptics's API document. (94%)
      Debug echo audio process.

4. BT source/sink switch (59%)
  a) We can now do the BT advertising by use scan mode API. But we can not dynamically switch AD2P sink and A2DP source.
We can enable 2 profiles now, but still working on switch A2DP sink/source in BT stack.
Study how to switch it on BT stack.
  b) Audio noise issue on BT USB A2DP Sink mode. (Owner: Synaptics)
The USB BT RX audio is ok. But we found there is some audio noise in BT audio processing path.
We issued a Jira 51 to ask Synaptics to highlight this is a critical issue.
Synaptics gives a command to check if buffer underflow happens.
After checking the command. The audio noise is not related to buffer underflow.

5.Start to develop manufacturing tools for DVT (86%, 9/21~11/6)
6.Support HW for low power standby mode debug and tuning.
Confirm BT power key wake up is not needed.
Pending until audio routing is finished.
7.Debug current codebase will fail to use tinycap. (Owner: Synaptics)
We give a temporary solution into Bitbucket for continuing development.
Synaptics is checking on it (Jira 53).

It already has source code. We are checking the code implementation and trying to set different parameters to test it.
  c)Input source mute/unmute:
    BTV mute/BT Sink/Aux in.
For BTV mute, it is done. There is code to create file for BTV mute. Sptek will check the file to mute/unmute BTV.
BT sink/Aux in is still under development.

2.BTF HAL development
2.2 For MIC(Karaoke) HAL, we will need to study Synaptics AMP_SND API and waiting for Synaptics's API document. (95%)
      Add code to control switch.

3. BT source/sink switch (60%)
  a) We can now do the BT advertising by use scan mode API.
Ask Synpatics to provide method to dump input buffer before entering Synaptics SND module.

4.Start to develop manufacturing tools for DVT (87%, 9/21~11/13)
5.Support HW for low power standby mode debug and tuning.
Pending until audio routing is finished.
6.Debug current codebase will fail to use tinycap. (Owner: Synaptics)
We give a temporary solution into Bitbucket for continuing development.
Synaptics give a solution (Jira 53), we are checking it.
7.Debug NTS does work. (Pending)
It will be implemented after high priority tasks.

@1120

1.Audio Routing implementation => the most of parts already implemented and still need to verify and target to finish all parts by 11/15
  Ongoing items:
  a)Output device volume:
BT Source: We think it is the Synaptics SDK issue since AI2 uses the same SND API. We raised a Synaptics Jira 56 to ask them to fix it. Waiting for Synaptics to analyze result.
  b)Input source mute/unmute:
BT sink/Aux in is still under development.
b.1) Add code to Aux input auto detection to route AUX in audio to Synaptics SND module. (65%)
AUX IN is not able to be opened by the latest image. We opened Synaptics Jira67 to ask Synaptics to fix it.
Synaptics will give patch by 11/25.
We can now detect Aux input. Need to add code for switch AUX/Karaoke MIC input.
b.2) Mute BT sink when AUX input is plugged.

2.BTF HAL development
  2.2 For MIC(Karaoke) HAL (95%)
  Ongoing items:
      1.Fix MIC sepolicy issue.
        Sepolicy issue is fixed.
But MIC is not able to be opened by the current image. We opened Synaptics Jira67 to ask Synaptics to fix it.
Synaptics will give patch by 11/25.

3.BT source/sink switch
  a) AD2P sink and A2DP source switch.
     Ongoing items:
a.1)Bluetooth button to trigger sink/source mode switch. (55%)
Focus on BT button presss to switch sink mode.
a.2)BT device reconnects to trigger sink/source mode switch.
  b) Audio noise issue on BT USB A2DP Sink mode. (Owner: Synaptics)
Audio flows in Audio HAL also has audio noise issue. (Synaptics jira 51)

4.Start to develop manufacturing tools for DVT (9/21~11/18)
  Ongoing items:
4.1 Cowork with HW for BT calibration. Wait for TE to test it.
4.2 Prepare factory image for DVT modification. Waiting for HW to rework.
4.3 Prepare OBA document to factory.

Hi River,

Because there are so many comments in this mantis case and it will impact our viewing and review experience.
However, we only have 4 items still to work with Syna to fix and implement by ourselves for items 3 and 4 so please update the status for these items separately in mantis cases and to create them if no existing mantis case is suitable.

Thanks,
Jacky
